In 2007 Edge Design Studio collaborated with owner Nick Mathers and decorator Jay Bearden on the design for Kingswood Restaurant in Manhattan’s West Village. The space was transformed from an existing Asian restaurant with a sterile, minimilist aesthetic, into an energetic, unpretentious eatery with a rustic barn house feel.
The interior embodies a theme of greenery, reflected from a lush neighbouring gardens on 10th St.
An emphasis on natural materials like leathers and reclaimed timbers, the presence of flowering wallpaper and the u-shaped copper bar create a quirky aesthetic with a communal and inclusive atmosphere.
